NBC Symphony Orchestra Concert | Diverse Music for New Year 2022!

Preforming video of New Year's Chime Concert on December 31, 2021

On 31 December, 2021, under the baton of Zhang Yi, the renowned conductor and Music Director of the National Ballet of China, NBC Symphony Orchestra performed the New Year's Chime Concert in National Centre for the Performing Arts to usher in the new year 2022 with music together with our audience friends!

Guzheng performance by Wang Yi

Guzheng Artist Wang Yi and NBC Symphony Orchestra jointly presented Nezha Conquers the Dragon King composed by composer Jin Fuzai.

Next, NBC Symphony Orchestra performed The Comedians Suite by the Russian composer Kabalevsky under the baton of conductor Zhang Yi.

Bayan performance by Xu Keqing

The young Bayan artist Xu Keqing performed jointly with NBC Symphony Orchestra for Song of Herdsmen and Libertango, which were the highlights of the concert.

The last repertoire before the bell rings was Four Yunnan Folk Songs by composer Yu Jingjun.

Before the Axi Dancing in the Moonlight, conductor Zhang Yi and the musicians counted down together with the audience to welcome the bell of 2022 in joy!

The first repertoire came following was the Trumpets in Unison from the ballet La P'eri by the French composer Paul Dukas.

Concert Master Wang Xiaomao

The last repertoire of the concert was Javelin for the Atlantic Olympics composed by contemporary American composer Michael Torke.

Conductor Zhang Yi gave encore performances that night for excerpts from The Red Detachment of Women by NBC and Radetzky Marsch by Johann Strauss I.
