Graduated from the Affiliated Secondary School of Beijing Dance Academy in 2018, Zhao Xinyue went to the U.K. and studied in the Royal Academy of Dance for one year with the Prix de Lausanne Scholarship. She joined the National Ballet of China in 2019.
Since entering NBC, Zhao has danced the leading roles in Natalia Makarova's Swan Lake, Roland Petit's L'Arlesienne, Carmen and La Chauve-Souris, romantic ballet work La Sylphide, George Balanchine's Serenade, Ben Stevenson's Cinderella, and Chinese ballet Chinese New Year (The Nutcracker Chinese Version) and etc. She also danced the major role in George Balanchine's Jewels, “Comrade in Arms” in Chinese ballet The Red Detachment of Women, the major roles in the ballet work Ballade and the symphony ballet The Great Land as well.
Zhao won the Gold Medal at the 4th Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition in 2017, along with the Jury's Special Prize at the Berlin International Dance Competition in Germany and first place in the Asian division of the International Ballet Invitational Competition in the United States. In 2018, she placed fifth at the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland. Her achievements continued in 2020 when she was awarded double Gold Medals in both Classical and Contemporary categories for the Junior Female division at the 7th South Africa International Ballet Competition (held online). Most recently in 2023, she claimed the Silver Medal in the Senior Female division at the prestigious 12th USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson.
