From January 29th to February 2nd, 2025, in the joyful and peaceful atmosphere of the Spring Festival in China, NBC was invited to bring seven performances of Chinese New Year at the Opera House of the John·F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

NBC’s team of 100 artists, led by Director Feng Ying, arrived in Washington, D.C. on January 26th, local time, to officially start the “Happy Spring Festival”- the American tour of the New Year’s ballet Chinese New Year.

Stage technicians were organized according to their functions and race against time, just to get the stage ready as soon as possible.

They carefully checked the props and scenery, and made concerted efforts to finish every decoration.

Alvaro Palau, who performed the “Foreign Friend”, a ballet master from Moveius Contemporary Ballet and the former principal dancer of Washington Ballet, also joined the rehearsal with NBC’s dancers.

Children from Jones-Haywood Dance School, who will play the “Little Gold Ingots” in Chinese New Year, were learning the movement “bowing”, that is making a bow with hands folded in front.

Yu Bo, Ballet Master Assistant of NBC, brought a ballet master class to the local dancers during the rehearsal.

Amateur ballet lovers from all over the United States have also gained a lot in the ballet master class brought by Cao Shuci, a famous ballerina and repetiteur of NBC.

Zhang Yi, the music director of the National Ballet of China, also started the rehearsal with the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and the National Children’s Chorus, United States of America, with a view to jointly presenting the classic melody of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker for these seven performances.

The premiere is just around the corner, and the stage of the Kennedy Center Opera House is being fully decorated. Let’s look forward to the wonderful performances of Chinese New Year  that NBC will present soon!
