The Premiere of Ode to Joy | “This Work Practices and Proves That ‘The Future of Ballet Art is in China’!”

After the first three performances of Ode to Joy were successfully completed in Beijing Tianqiao Theater, Director Feng Ying, said passionately to all the dancers and staff: “This symphonic ballet expresses our sincere tribute to the great work created by Beethoven 200 years ago, and also shows the excellence of today’s artists, which further practices and proves that ‘the future of ballet art is in China’. I would like to show my congratulations to you here again!”

Zhou Yu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the China National Symphony Orchestra, said: “I am deeply touched by today’s performance. I’d like to wish the symphonic ballet Ode to Joy a greater success in the future!”

On November 18 and 19, NBC completed all three performances of the premiere of the symphonic ballet Ode to Joy, which was latest created by National Ballet of China, in Beijing Tianqiao Theater.

Zhang Yi, the Music Director of NBC, conducted National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra to bring a wonderful interpretation of Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 in d Minor, Op.125. Four guest vocal soloists Guo Chengcheng, Wang Hongyao, Zhao Yulong and Liu Songhu brought wonderful solo performances together with the specially invited China National Symphony Orchestra Chorus.

After each performance in the first round of Ode to Joy, the leading dancers interacted with the audience, autographed and took photos with them.

In the applause, the premiere of the symphonic ballet Ode to Joy came to a successful conclusion! May Ode to Joy accompany you all the time, and may our future be as bright as stars!
