One of the highlights of the 14th Ballet Workshop is that Ms. Wu Zhenhong, the daughter of Mr. Wu Zujie and Ms. Zhang Lingyi, the first generation ballet artists of NBC, will present her work Ballade on the stage of NBC Ballet Workshop, which is also the premiere of this work in China; while Zheng Yuanchang and Zhang Muzi, students of the School of NBC, created To Deliver On Time and If I Were You with unique creativity and perspective. Let's learn about their thoughts from today's interview...
Chan Hon Goh C.M., D.Litt: “When I once again walked into the National Ballet of China after so many years, I felt both familiar and strange. What made me familiar was NBC, the place where I played and danced since I was a child. What made me feel strange was that this time I came to NBC with a new identity-a répétiteur. I am glad to take this opportunity to share my artistic experience gained from different artists in Canada and around the world with the new generation of dancers of NBC!”
“The creation idea of my work comes from ordinary people around us. I chose the delivery guys because we can see them running around all parts of the city every day. I also noticed all kinds of difficulties in their work, so I want to record the hard work of their day with dance.” Zheng Yuanchang, a student of the School of NBC, explained his creative inspiration in this way.
Zhang Muzi said: “Inspired by my kitten, I start the creation of my work. In order to create it better, I carefully observed the kitten’s every move, such as scratching and stretching, which were all choreographed into dance moves. I hope I can create more interesting works in the future! ”
From May 5th to 7th, let's meet at Beijing Tianqiao Theater to attend the 14th Ballet Workshop and feel the youthful dance steps, artistic charm and power of creation!
