Zhang Xi

Graduated from Beijing Dance Academy in 2006, Zhang Xi joined the National Ballet of China inthe same year.

Since entering NBC, he has danced the leading roles in Roland Petit's L' Arlesienne, Bejart's Fire Bird, The Nutcracker (Chinese Version), The Peony Pavilion, Raise the Red Lantern and the main characters in Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Onegin, Natalia Makarova's La Bayadère, Sylvia, Giselle, Carmen, Songs and Dances of the Earth etc.as well as Chinese ballets such as The Crane Calling and The Light of Heart. He also danced many classical pas de deux and modern ballet works,such as Confucius in 2012, Hue of Dawn, Le Corsaire, The Butterfly Lovers, La Esmeralda pas de deux, Diana and Actaeon pas de deux, Four Seasons, Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.3, Pink Floyd Ballet, Kazimir's Colors, French Twist and Etudes, etc.

In the year 2006,he won the Second Prize for youth group in the 8th National Dance Competition(Tao Li Cup). While in 2010,he won the Senior Bronze Medal and the Best pas de deux Award in the 9th USA International Ballet Competition. And he was awarded the Outstanding Dancer Award in the Showcase of the ExcellentRepertoire by the Ministry of Culture in 2013.

As the representative of Chinese artists, Zhang Xi has made the visit together with the country's leaders and performed at many major foreign events at home. He has toured with the Company in Hong Kong and Macau as well as many countries all around the world, such as UK, Australia, Germany, America, Switzerland,Brazil, Russia, France, South Korea and so on. As a guest artist, Zhanghas been invited to the Celebrating Performance for the President of Kazakhstan in 2012. And in the next year, he was invited to take part in the 19th Nureyev Art Festivaland starred in Giselle as well as the Gala show with Novosibirsk Operaand Ballet Theatre.
