Wang Xiaoya learned after Chinese dance educator, Professor Qu Hao in the Ballet Department of Guangzhou Arts School and won the gold medal in the 4th International Ballet Competition in Freiburg, Germany. After graduation, Wang joined the National Ballet of China in 2005. There she danced ballets like Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, Giselle, Sylvia, The Nutcracker (Chinese Version), The Peony Pavilion, Don Quixote and Carmen. She also danced "Qionghua" in The Red Detachment of Women. She has danced Marble Girl in the "Sino-French Cultural Spring Gala", which is choreographed by Manuel Legris, the famous ballet star and the current Artistic Director of Vienna National Ballet.

Wang had toured with the Company in Hong Kong and Macau as well as countries all around the world, such as Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Brazil, Australia, Greece, Mexico, South Korea, the Netherlands. She has participate in the cultural exchange performances and foreign affairs activities such as the "Year of Chinese Culture".

In 2011, Wang entered The Central Academy of Drama majoring in Acting Director. She rehearsed many classic drama works such as Lady Windermere's fan, Jane Eyre and Der Besuch der alten Dame. She played "Fan Yi" in Thunderstorm and "Cousin Mei" in Home. She played "Luise" in her graduation drama Intrigue and Love. She directed many drama works such as Sunrise, White Deer Plain and Othello during her schooling. In 2012, She danced the leading role in Dancers in the Dark in the second chapter of the opening ceremony of the 13th Western China International Fair.

She joined The School of NBC as a ballet teacher in 2015 and attended the celebrating performance to the 80th anniversary of the founding of Beijing Yucai School in 2017. In May 2018, she published an article in the Chinese Culture Daily entitled <Why Ballet Works Prefer Fairy Tales>. In the same year, she danced as the "Queen" in The Nine-Colored Deer with her students. Later in July, she studied Vakonova's classical ballet teaching system in St. Petersburg.
