Graduated from Russia's Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet with master degree of Arts, Li Rui now is a doctoral candidate.

He has won the first prize in the 10th All-Russian Classical Dance Competition in 2011 and the gold medal in the classical ballet group in Rigas Pavasaris International Dance Competition, Latvia in 2013. In 2018, he took part in the 7th International Practical Academic Forum organized by St. Petersburg Culture and Art Association and won the third prize.

In 2015, Li Rui worked for Russia's Jacobson State Ballet Theatre and starred in ballets such as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, etc. Since 2018, he joined the National Ballet of China and became a teacher of the Dance School of NBC.
