La Sylphide, which was performed in the first half, is one of the three masterpieces in the period of ballet romanticism. It is also the first large-scale ballet work for ballerinas to dance on their toes. It plays an important role in the world dance history. The performance that night was a version created by the Danish Ballet master Bournonville in 1836, which was introduced and rehearsed by the National Ballet of China in 1999. Dancers of National Ballet of China presented the pure and standard features of Danish Ballet School, showing their precise control ability and comprehensive level of strength for different styles of dance.

Profound, moving and delicate music played a special role in the performance, just like an invisible hand of fate on the stage, pushing everyone towards a different direction of life.
In the second half, Song of Life is a passionate collision of music and dance. This work was created by the famous dancers Ying E Ding and Yang Minjian and premiered by the National Ballet of China in 2017. In the music of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op74, Pathétique, the dancers performed passionately, composing a far-reaching praise of life.
"The life between heaven and earth
Is just like a fleeting show,
Everything changes all of a sudden."
Not been limited to Tchaikovsky's music itself, the choreographer combined Chuangtse' s philosophy with western music. He used the language of dance to go through the tunnel of time, and launched a cross century dialogue about life with Tchaikovsky.
