May 10th, 2020 is the 104th Anniversary of the Birth of Teacher Dai Ailian, the famous dance artist and educator, the "Mother of Chinese Ballet". Dai was named principal of the newly founded Beijing Dance School, and the first Director of National Ballet of China. National Ballet of China will hold a commemorative activity in the memorial hall of Teacher Dai Ailian’s former residence in Beijing, in accordance with the tradition of the past years, in memory of one of the founders of Chinese dance and the forerunners of the world dance art.
Dai Ailian was guiding dancers to practice in 1960s.
The Lotus Dance created by Dai Ailian in 1953.
In 2004, Dai Ailian gave a speech at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the building of her head statues by Beijing Dance Academy.
In order to meet the concern and support of all sectors of society for the development and construction of National Ballet of China, and to remember Dai Ailian, the 104th anniversary of her birth will be webcast from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on May 10th, 2020.
