Under the baton of conductor Zhang Yi, Music Director of National Ballet of China, the orchestra performed four excellent orchestral works of the renowned composer Guan Xia: Hope and Pursuit, from Symphony No. 1 (Act I), Allegro con brio, from the Anti-epidemic symphony Reborn from the Fire (Act I), and Piano Concerto No.1 Founder and Symphonic Ballade, together with the piano solo by Tan Xiaotang, the renowned pianist and professor of the Central Conservatory of Music.
Composer Mr. Guan Xia also took to the stage to pay tribute to the superb rendition of Zhang Yi conducting with the National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra.
After four masterpieces of contemporary music, the concert ushered in a moment of reliving the glory days. Mr. Bian Zushan, an 85-year-old senior Chinese musician and the former Principal Conductor of NBC, stepped onto the conductor's platform amidst the applause of the audience and conducted the selections of the Chinese ballet classic The Red Detachment of Women.
