From September 9 to 12, 2021 in Beijing Tianqiao Theater, National Ballet of China will re-stage the classic ballet Don Quixote, which has an indissoluble bound with NBC.
The story between Nureyev & NBC
In 1966, the Nureyev's Don Quixote was premiered in Wiener Staatsoper, in which Rudolf Nureyev himself took the male leading character Basilio. His version is considered as the most groundbreaking choreography of its era and is acknowledged as one of the best versions of Don Quixote in the world in the 20th century.

At the invitation of Dai Ailian, Nureyev came to Beijing and gave his beloved work Don Quixote to NBC in 1985.

Re-staged the Classic in 2013
In 2013, NBC re-produced and re-staged Nureyev's version of Don Quixote with many of NBC's ballet stars taking characters in the performance, and toured the country, gaining wide recognition from all walks of life!
