From September 15-18, National Ballet of China will present the original ballet Chinese New Year (The Nutcracker Chinese Version) at Beijing Tianqiao Theater. The first performance of Chinese New Year (The Nutcracker Chinese Version) on September 15 will be devoted to renowned conductor Zhang Yi's 20 years Anniversary as NBC Music Director.

Director Feng Ying wrote in the message of the album 20 Years of Zhang Yi in NBC, "During his 20 years as NBC Music Director, Zhang Yi has brought the overall strength of NBC Symphony Orchestra to a whole new level."

In the past 20 years, NBC Symphony Orchestra, directed by Zhang Yi as Music Director, has not only developed by leaps and bounds, but has also become an outstanding orchestra in China as an independent symphony orchestra, becoming a well-deserved "dark horse".

Zhang Yi served as the conductor in ballet Chinese New Year (The Nutcracker Chinese Version) in 2021.

Zhang Yi conducted the New Year Ballet Concert in 2020 in Peking University.

Zhang Yi conducted the Victoria Symphony to present music performance for the ballet The Red Detachment of Women

in Arts Centre Melbourne in 2017.

Zhang Yi conducted NBC Symphony Orchestra to record the online performances of

Symphony  Dating Ballet in 2020.

Zhang Yi conducted NBC Symphony Orchestra to present Melody of Ballet Concert in 2019.

Zhang Yi conducted NBC Symphony Orchestra to present the original work Symphony of

Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei with the joint efforts of Yu Kuizhi and Li Shengsu in 2020.

Zhang Yi conducted NBC Symphony Orchestra to present New Year's Chime Concert in National

Centre for the Performing Arts in 2016.

Zhang Yi conducted NBC Symphony Orchestra to present the Special Concert to Celebrate the

70th Anniversary of Anti-Fascist War Victory in Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland in 2015.

Beyond the orchestra pit, Music Director Zhang Yi also leads the Orchestra to shine in concerts.

"NBC is my warm home," said Music Director Zhang Yi, "The 20 years with NBC have been the happiest years of my career and the most peaceful years of my heart. Our story will never be ended."
