On September 27, 2022, the premiere of the large-scale original symphony The Symphony and the Opera – the finale of NBC's "Original Symphonic Trilogy", was staged at the Concert Hall of National Centre for the Performing Arts. Zhang Yi, NBC Music Director and a renowned conductor, led the NBC Symphony Orchestra, and Wang Xiaomao, the Assistant Music Director, as the Concertmaster, together with a number of outstanding Peking Opera performers from the National Peking Opera Company, they presented a new audio-visual feast fusing the beauty of symphonic and Chinese opera.

The first half of the concert began with the original orchestral suite Three Pieces of Kunqu Opera, which was composed under the joint commission of NBC and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

Li Bochan, the young composer took to the stage to express his gratitude to conductor Zhang Yi and the artists of National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra, and also received a warm applause from the audience.

In the second half of the concert, the National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra, together with outstanding young Peking Opera performers Wang Yue, Guo Yaoyao, Liu Wei, Zhu Hong, Liu Yang, as well as two Peking Opera orchestra players, Kang Changsheng and Zhuang Xuan, presented the original symphonic Peking Opera Life-saving Doctors to the audience.

Conductor Zhang Yi and all the artists acknowledged the applause several times amidst continuous applause from the audience, and also expressed their gratitude and respect to playwright Mr. Zhang Yonghe, who was sitting in the audience.

From Symphony of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei in 2020, Beautiful Mountains and Rivers in 2021, to The Symphony and the Opera in 2022, the large original symphonic works launched by NBC for three consecutive years have received highly favorable reviews and positive recognition from the audience.
