From March 17 to 19, National Ballet of China will staged two classic French modern ballets, Carmen and L'arlesienne, in the China National Opera House.
Roland Petit is "Grandpa Ro" for NBC members
For the NBC members, Roland Petit is not only an internationally renowned master, but also the kind and respectable "Grandpa Ro". During his exchanges and cooperation with us, Roland Petit has built a profound friendship with NBC.
In November, 2005, after NBC premiered L'arlesienne and Carmen, French Choreographer Roland Petit paid a curtain call with the leading dancers Zhu Yan, Zhang Jian, Wang Qimin and Yu Bo.
Carmen: A Masterpiece Witnessing the Love Legend of the Master
Roland Petit's masterpiece Carmen, is premiered in 1949 and is recognized as one of the most classic ballets.
In this round of performances, Qiu Yunting, the Prima Ballerina of NBC and Ma Xiaodong, the Première Danseur of NBC, as well as excellent young dancers Zhao Xinyue and Guan Chongzheng will dance as Carmen and Don José in different performances.
L'arlesienne: Inspired by the Love Struggle in Van Gogh's Painting
L'arlesienne was created in 1973, and the music of the ballet was also written by Bizet.
This is the first time for the young dancers team of NBC to stage L'arlesienne in Beijing. The excellent young dancers, Zhou Yue, Li Mengfei, Yan Hualong and Shen Mengfan, will play the leading roles in different performances.
