A Dream of Red Mansions, a ballet by National Ballet of China, will have its grand premiere at Beijing Tianqiao Theatre from 10 to 18 February 2023. It is also a project funded by the Beijing Culture and Art Foundation in 2022. We recently interviewed the creation team of the ballet, and today we present to you first of all the feelings about this creation from the General Choreographer Tong Ruirui.

"The ballet version of A Dream of Red Mansions is not simply a ballet interpretation of the stories in A Dream of Red Mansions, the biggest challenge for me was to find the connection between ballet vocabulary, traditional Chinese culture and the nature of the literary masterpiece. Through this connection, we will be able to blend the various elements naturally and create our own stage language and dance vocabulary.
