Interview with the Creation Team of A Dream of Red Mansions

"For the costume design of the ballet A Dream of Red Mansions, I adopt a modern and contemporary expression to present the traditional oriental story. For this literary masterpiece, every audience has their own understanding. When the audiences enter the theater, how should we satisfy, lead and break the existing images in their hearts? This is the breakthrough I want to make most in the ballet!" -Yang Donglin, Costume Designer of ballet A Dream of Red Mansions.

"National Ballet of China is the leading ballet company in China. I am honored to participate in the artistic creation of this original work of NBC. This is my second cooperation with the Company. Like Flowers , the first work I cooperated with NBC is a realistic themed ballet. And this time, A Dream of Red Mansions is a classical themed one." Yang Donglin said.

"We should not only pursue aesthetic feeling. By starting from the original work and the script, the beauty we create on the stage could be profound and meaningful." Yang Donglin said.
