On November 29th, under the baton of Zhang Yi, the famous conductor and the Music Director of the National Ballet of China, the NBC Symphony Orchestra joined hands with Zhao Cong, President and Principal Pipa Performer of the China National Traditional Orchestra, giving a wonderful concert integrating Chinese and foreign music masterpieces at National Centre for the Performing Arts. In the concert, the artists presented a “Pictures Exhibition of the Silk Road” with three symphonic music masterpieces bearing history, regional culture and gorgeous landscapes.
At the concert, the first piece of music played was a musical selection from NBC's large-scale original ballet The Light of Heart, which was created by the famous contemporary composer Guo Wenjing.
The next one was Flying Apsaras of the Silk Road, which was created by Zhao Cong, the famous pipa performer and President of the China National Traditional Orchestra.
In the second half of the concert, under the baton of the conductor Zhang Yi, the NBC Symphony Orchestra played the Pictures At An Exhibition composed by Russian musician Mussorgsky and orchestrated by French musician Maurice Ravel.
The mutual reflection of Chinese and foreign symphonic masterpieces is like the multi-color interwoven lights in the concert hall of the National Centre for the performing Arts that night. NBC Symphony Orchestra will present more wonderful performances and touching moments to the audience when the New Year is coming.
