The year 2026 marks the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Long March. To pay tribute to this immortal journey, the National Ballet of China has initiated and co-commissioned the large-scale original symphony The Earth's Red Ribbon with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra, and Sichuan Philharmonic Orchestra. The work will make its world premiere at the Concert Hall of the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) on September 12.

The composition is rooted in two monumental red classics: Wei Wei's novel The Earth's Red Ribbon and Shen Yaoyi's epic picture-narrative series of the same title. The work is composed by invited young composers Shang Peilei and Luo Maishuo.
