On December 8 and 9, 2020, to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, the National Ballet of China took part in the Variety Show of the Performing Season(Macao) of National Art Troupes with artists from the seven art troupes directly under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, including the National Peking Opera Company, and art troupes from Guangdong and Macao under the organization of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Macao S.A.R. Department of Social Affairs and Culture and Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R.. The Vice Chairperson of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Edmund Ho Hau Wah, the Director of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R. Fu Ziying, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism Li Qun and the Macao S.A.R. Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ouyang Yu and others attended the special performance on the 9th.

The theater did not have a rehearsal hall with barre, so the performers used chairs and light poles, and even the arms of their peers as barre to practice.
