Graduated from Shenyang Art School in 2004, Zheng Yu joined the Liaoning Ballet in the same year, then Korean Global Ballet in 2009 and National Ballet of China in 2013.
He has performed the principal roles in Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, The Crane Calling, The Light of Heart, Songs and Dances of the Earth, Raise the Red Lantern, and Le Corsaire, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, La Bayadère, Onegin, The Moon Over a Fountain, Shim Chung, In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, Petite mort, L' Arlesienne, The Little Mermaid and etc. as well as Chinese ballets like The Red Detachment of Women, The Nutcracker (Chinese Version) and The Peony Pavilion.
Zheng Yu has won the Silver Medal in the National Dance Competition (Taoli Cup) in 2003 and the Silver Medal (junior group) in Shanghai International Ballet Competition in 2004. And he has won a Silver Medal and two Gold Medals in CCTV National Dance Competition in 2005, 2007 and 2009. In 2005, he won the Silver Medal for youth group in Helsinki International Ballet Competition, Finland, with the vacancy of the Gold Medal. While in 2006, Zheng won the Bronze Medal in Korean International Dance Competition as well as the Gold Medals for Youth Group in Vienna International Ballet Competition in 2007 and Varna International Ballet Competition in 2008.
